the simpson's ride: laser upgrade

Step into Krustyland for a riotous ride with The Simpsons Ride, a high-fidelity motion simulator that brilliantly translates the 2D world of Springfield into a visceral 3D guest experience. Utilizing giant 80-foot Dome projection screens synchronized with hydraulically actuated ride vehicles, the attraction immerses guests in a “ride-within-a-ride” narrative where a sabotaged rollercoaster journey spirals into a chaotic chase featuring the show’s original cast. It stands as a definitive case study in how advanced simulation technology and sharp creative direction can revitalize a legacy facility (formerly Back to the Future: The Ride) to deliver high-throughput, high-energy entertainment that honors its source material.

how qco entertainment helped

Having spearheaded the original projection design for The Simpsons Ride in 2008 and iterating on that design with RGB laser technology for Minion Mayhem Japan, QCO Entertainment founder Paul Cuoco was the clear choice to be brought back in when it was time to update The Simpson’s Ride to laser technology.

Building on his previous designs, QCO partnered with Electrosonic and Christie to develop a significant upgrade to the video projection, transitioning from standard lamps to 4K RGB laser at a remarkable 60K lumens. This upgrade brings color, brightness, and clarity never before experienced at this attraction.
